PROFILE

Born and raised in London to a Jamaican family, Bianca Saunders completed a BA in Fashion Design at Kingston University before specialising in menswear during her MA at the Royal College of Art. She launched her eponymous label in 2017, from her bedroom, and debuted at London Fashion Week Men’s in 2018, where the British Fashion Council immediately named her One To Watch.

Her work is rooted in diasporic identity and a radical reimagining of masculinity that is culturally layered and emotionally resonant, fusing craftsmanship with modern tailoring through a diasporic lens. In 2020, Alessandro Michele selected her as one of fifteen independent designers to show as part of GucciFest; that same year, she exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

In 2021, she made history as the first Black woman to win the prestigious ANDAM Grand Prix Fashion Award, a €300,000 prize accompanied by a year-long mentorship from Balenciaga CEO Cédric Charbit and the opportunity to show on the Paris runway. She was also shortlisted for the LVMH Prize that same year, with Virgil Abloh serving on the jury. She made her Paris Fashion Week runway debut in January 2022 and has since shown there consistently. In 2023, she dressed Usher for the Met Gala. Named on both the Dazed 100 and Forbes 30 Under 30 lists, Bianca Saunders is one of the most compelling voices in contemporary menswear.
