Born in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, Dylan Jones developed a fascination with design, music, and publishing from an early age. After studying at Chelsea School of Art and Central Saint Martins, he began his career at the cutting edge of British style journalism, editing influential titles including i-D, The Face, and Arena before moving into national newspapers. In 1999, he became Editor of British GQ, embarking on a tenure that would transform the magazine into one of the world's most influential men's lifestyle publications.
Over more than three decades, Jones has become one of the defining voices in fashion and cultural journalism. During his 22 years at GQ, he won a record number of editorial awards, was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to publishing and fashion, and helped establish London Collections: Men—now London Fashion Week Men's—as a global platform for British menswear. A bestselling author of more than thirty books on music, fashion, and popular culture, he also served as Editor-in-Chief of The Standard from 2023 to 2025. Most recently, he published Table Hopping: The Secret History of London Restaurants, continuing to document the people and movements that have shaped British culture while remaining an influential commentator on fashion, design, and publishing.
