PROFILE

Born and raised in New Orleans, Toussaint King began as a community advocate — helping neighbours and friends find jobs and opportunities before a career-defining moment changed everything. While working in marketing, he was selected for the inaugural cohort of the Serena Williams Design Crew, an apprenticeship programme Serena Williams launched with Nike to give talented designers from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to create meaningful work rooted in sportswear culture.

King ranked as one of the standout designers of the first SWDC x Nike collection, working on Williams' Australian Open 2021 footwear, the Air Max Koko sandal, and the Air Force 1 series. A self-taught designer who draws inspiration from real people and real stories, he was among seven of ten cohort members to earn a full-time role — joining Nike as a footwear designer for the Jordan Kids brand. His current work with Nike involves Team Nigeria, signalling an ongoing connection to the African sporting and creative community.
